Spring keeps popping her head up giving us little glimpses of the warmth and growth to come. We’ve been chatting with farmers, planning out what the spring and summer months will bring, and getting our team ready for the exciting season ahead. And you know what? We’re brimming with gratitude.
This year, as we celebrate the International Year of Cooperatives, we’re reminded of how lucky we are to be YOUR community food co-op. It’s an honor to serve you and be part of something so special!
We understand that there is a lot of uncertainty in the air right now. While much of that is beyond our control, we want to take a moment to reassure you, our valued customers, owners, and community members, that we are here for you.
We remain committed to being your trusted source for local, natural, and organic foods. We continue to partner with our local growers and producers to strengthen our local supply chains and economy. Our efforts to improve food accessibility are ongoing, not just for our current customers, but also for those who have yet to walk through our doors. We are monitoring food and farm policies and will be transparent with sharing pertinent information with you. In short, we’ve got you covered.
Community is much more than belonging to something; it’s about doing something together that makes belonging matter. -Brian Solis
That’s exactly it. We are not just a grocery store—we are a cooperative, working together with you and the community. Yes, we offer groceries, but we’re so much more than that. We are community-owned and part of a larger network of cooperatives that strive to make a difference. The way we do business allows us to give back to the community, an that includes YOU. Every purchase, every choice, is a step towards a stronger more connected community.
Here are a few exciting things happening this spring that we think you’ll love:
- Board of Directors Applications: We are currently accepting applications for our Board of Directors through April 6th. If you’re a Grain Train Owner and would like to help shape our future, we’d love to hear from you. Learn more HERE.
- Bulk Section Makeover: We’re expanding our bulk foods offerings and bringing back bulk herbs and spices! Stay tuned for updates as we make progress on this exciting transformation!
- McLaren Children’s Health Fair: Join us at the Health Fair on April 5th from 10 AM-2 PM. We look forward to seeing you there!
- Plant Sale with Mshko’Ode: This year we are teaming up with Mshko’Ode, an indigenous-owned farm in Brutus, MI, for a special plant sale! More details coming soon.
We hope this message finds that you and yours are doing well. If you have been considering becoming an Owner of the Grain Train, we’d be thrilled to have you join us. As we dream of spring, know that it’s just around the corner! Speaking of which, remember to turn your clocks forward this Saturday night when Daylight Savings Time begins. And, until next time, keep cooperating and we will see you at the stores!
